The New Zealand Society of Local Government Managers (SOLGM) has launched a new website enabling job seekers around the country to check out career opportunities within local government.
The LGCareers.co.nz website allows users to source information about the various roles which are available in the sector –and with an integrated job vacancy board built into the site, job seekers can also immediately apply for jobs listed.
The LGCareers site has also been designed to highlight the positive impacts roles within local government have on their communities. SOLGM chief executive Karen Thomas says often people don’t realise how varied and rewarding working in local government can be. “When developing this website we set out to showcase the range of careers available to job seekers as well as the satisfaction people realise when working in and for their community.”
LGCareers also provides information on the various career enhancement options available to local government staff, including overseas management exchanges, training opportunities and scholarships for courses that are aimed at improving the knowledge and skills of staff in local government.
