Smart stormwater ideas wanted

Water New Zealand reminds us that applications to pitch at this year’s 2019 Stormwater Innovations Showcase close at 5pm sharp on February 15. The annual Innovations Showcase runs alongside the 2019 Stormwater Conference & Expo which is being held from May 1 to 3 at Auckland’s Grand Millennium.

Pitches should be no more than five minutes long. A panel of judges and the audience will cast votes for the overall best innovation.

The entry must involve a technology, product, service or process aimed at solving a problem related to stormwater challenges in this country. And at least one presenter must be available to attend the showcase.

Entries close for local leg of the 2019 Australasian Management Challenge

This is the final cut-off date for entering your council team in the New Zealand leg of the 2019 Australasian Management Challenge.

NZ Local Government Magazine has covered the challenge extensively over the years and attended a couple of events too. So, we know what we’re talking about when we say this is one of the most fun ways for mid-tier council officers to get simulated hands-on experience at being part of the boss-team in their future careers.

It can be very high-pressure, though, and is not for the faint-hearted. Gird your loins and enter a team.
